Meet Donald Crews

Kindergarten readers are exploring a new author study on Donald Crews. This week they learned that Donald Crews is not only an author, but also an illustrator! In fact, he is such a great illustrator that he has won a special award that is awarded annually, by the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Kindergarten students are enjoying discovering more about Donald Crews through his vast collection of books.

Special Guest Brenton Rueger

Kindergarten parent, Brenton Rueger, is an amazing contractor who stopped by Tuesday morning as our special guest expert. He came by for our buildings unit to discuss and explain all about his construction tools. Students enjoyed hands-on experiences with tools that builders use and examined tools designers use when designing buildings. Your Kindergartener got the opportunity to use the tools safely and to participate in various activities to help learn about the different types of tools and what they are used for. Ask your child what their favorite part was from this special visit!

Lunch Buddies & Finger Knitting

Kindergarteners were thrilled to the gills to be lunch buddies with Third Grade on Thursday. This builds a yearlong friendship and community across grade levels. Kindergarteners love spending time with these older friends, talking and playing together. Third Graders also stopped by our classroom to help Kindergarten finger knit decorations for the our tree in Marion Square. Kindergarten enjoyed this so much and can’t wait to show you how well they can finger knit.
