Second Grade Rocks!

Mathematicians

We’ve been busy all week counting sequences and seeking patterns in our number grids. Students made a number scroll from 0-1000 that hangs proudly in our math corner. Learning to count by 2s, 5s, 10s, or 100s on the number grid has helped students increase their mental math speed.

Classroom Jobs

Many students have found new responsibilities in our classroom from their class jobs. Students are selected each week to help keep up the classroom and take care of our pets and plants. Jobs include: Gardener, Zoologists, Pencil Patrol, Zen Master, Teacher Assistant, and Green Team. Jobs change each week and all students will have a chance to help out in new and exciting ways throughout the year.

Rock Concert

Our little Geologists are busy searching and collecting rock samples from our community. This week we have been investigating river rocks like pebbles, gravel, and sand. In the 2nd Grade classroom, we have set up a “Rock Concert” for our collection to be displayed. Encourage your child to explore and find new rocks around your house or neighborhood with your supervision and bring them in for our concert!!
