Math

In math, our students have been learning how to do long division. We began this unit by reviewing the multiplication table in order to divide two digit numbers by one digit numbers. Students are currently working on problems with two and three digit dividends and one digit divisors.

Reading

In reading, Fourth Grade has been reading the novel Heartbeat by Sharon Creech. The class reads about thirty pages together everyday and concludes their reading time by writing in their reader’s response journal. There are various prompts in their journal that they write about in relation to the book’s contents.

Social Studies

We have studied three significant European Explorers so far in our new social studies unit. On Monday, Ms. Brooke read from Around the World in a Hundred Years by Jean Fritz. This week, our Fourth Graders learned about Bartolomeu Dias, Christopher Columbus, and Vasco da Gama.
