Cooper Village

Cooper Village Presentation

Second Grade warmly welcomed family and friends to our business community to share our work on building an eco-friendly village that was based on needs versus wants.  Scholars were proud to share their unique roles in building disaster proof homes and businesses. They displayed their work in creating a budget when becoming a business owner. Family and friends also had the chance to apply for open jobs by letting us know why they would be best for these roles! We are thrilled to say that we have hired many new employees in Cooper Village!

Australia

We are thrilled to begin our next Social Studies unit on Australia beginning next week. We will begin with a review of the continents, oceans, and biomes before diving into the history of the Aborginal people.  Similar to our Kiawah Indians and Charlestowne Settlers study, scholars will have the opportunity to learn the details of the shelter, transportation, food, clothing and celebrations of Australia’s indigenous people.

Partial Sums

Math has been a week of reviewing partial sums! Partial-sums addition is particularly useful for adding multi-digit numbers. Scholars are working one place-value column at a time, and then adding all the partial sums to find the total sum.
