Amazing Authors!

Author Presentation

We are so proud of the first grader’s author presentation. They did an amazing job at diving deep into their authors’ lives and books to be able to evaluate their authors’ themes, characters, and writing styles. First graders worked really hard to plan and write their own inspired story based off of their favorite book by their author. The students published author inspired stories which were nothing short of amazing! We appreciate everyone who came out and supported our wonderful first graders.

Money, Money, Money

As we are wrapping up our math unit, first graders are learning the value of money. This past week students were able to identify coins and known coin properties and characteristics. As students understood each coin’s value, they were able to place coins in value order.  To help us remember how much each coin is worth we used poems. Ask your first grader to share their favorite coin poem with you.

Spirit Week

Spirit week was a blast! Teachers and students enjoyed seeing everyone’s creative minds flow each day. As a class, our favorite day was Wacky Wednesday! We really enjoyed laughing and smiling with each other over all the wacky outfits. We also enjoyed ending the day with a wacky game of “I’m packing my lunch and I’m bringing…”, which is a game where students had to think of a wacky food combination they would pack in their lunch while also memorizing their classmates’ wacky combinations before them. We wish spirit week was every week!
