Amazing Third Graders !!!

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies our third graders got the chance to interview and chat with our friends all the way in China. Third graders were ecstatic to discover similarities and differences with someone from a different culture. Scholars were able to learn about family, food, traditions, games and so much more from our new friends. We can’t wait to video call with our friends again!

Read Aloud

Third Grade began our next read aloud this week, Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell. The story follows a 12 year old girl called Karana who is stranded on an island and has to work out how to survive. Her main enemies on the island are the wild dogs and she lives in fear of the Aleuts (a tribe who arrive on the island to hunt seals). Third graders are enjoying this read aloud so much so far!

Art

Students have been working so hard on art work for our upcoming Asia presentation. Third graders made 3-D vases with Chinese inspired artwork. We are so proud of all the hard work our artists have done. We can’t wait to share these with you all soon!

Important Dates:

  • March 3rd – Asia Presentation ( 2:00pm)
  • March 6th & 7th – Student Led Conferences (11:30am Dismissal)
