Math

Third Graders returned from Spring Break to start their next unit in Math. This week, students have worked on mastering measuring line segments to the nearest 1/4 inch. Students have had fun applying their new knowledge of precise measurements. Third Graders also spent the week building on their multiplication skills, using familiar facts and factor pairs to solve extended facts.

Science

Students were excited to return from Spring Break to check on the development of our in-class plants. Before Spring Break, students set up a hydroponic planter. Using just germinated seeds, water, and a nutrient supplement, our bean bush plants have sprouted and have begun to grow! This week, science groups chose one plant to track and graph the development of over the upcoming weeks. Students feel so connected to their plants that they have even begun to name them!

Poetry

Continuing with our poetry unit, students spent the week building their poetry portfolios. Third Graders continued to discuss poetry tools like repetition, rhythm, and alliteration and spent the week applying it to their writing. Some began composing poems based on their newly discovered tools, while others have taken the chance to revise past works. We are so impressed and enthralled by our poetic Third Grade class!
