Artist Statements

Third Grade Buddies!

This week 4th Graders have joined forces with 3rd Graders for Morning Meetings and have paired up with 3rd Graders for lunch buddies as well. Combining grades has given our students an opportunity to learn more about their buddies. During Morning Meetings, both grades got comfortable sharing thoughts together and being active participants. One 4th Grade student stated, “I like that I can talk about different things with 3rd Graders and learn more about my lunch buddy’s interests.” Please ask your child about a few highlights from our joint Morning Meetings.

Artist Statements!

The Art Walk is coming up soon and our 4th Grade artists have been busy finalizing their artist statements that will be on display in the Art Walk. Each scholar took pride in writing about their artistic journey and how they see themselves as creators in the TCS community. Students focused on specific artists such as Wassily Kandinsky in art class and brought have tried to bring their work to life. Many students reflected on his influence in their artist statements. The process of working on their artist statements encouraged students to think thoughtfully about how art has impacted their lives.

Muscle Groups!

This week, Fourth Graders focused on their body’s muscles by creating models of the, leg, arm, and thumb, using craft sticks, rubber bands, paper clips, and rubber tubes. We’ve discussed how each material represents the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, or ligaments. We learned how each of these parts are connected and work together to make arms and legs move. Scientists also worked in groups to come up with unique exercises that represented each muscle group of the body. Ask your child about the challenges of creating the leg model!
