Bacon & Eggs Writing Partners
This week, Kindergarten writers met with their new “Bacon & Eggs” writing partners. These helpful partners give each other support by listening and asking questions about each other’s writing. Forming writing partnerships gives students another tool in their tool belt to help prepare their writing for an audience. Kindergarten writers discussed ways to write stories that people will be eager to read. They were introduced to a handy new writer’s tool, “Mr. Space-Man”! Brave writers explored creating space between each word, using their new tool to make their words appear clearly and their writing easier to read. They discussed how real authors work hard to have the words on their pages match the pictures. When the words match the pictures in our writing it helps our reader’s build meaning and better understanding of our writing. Ask your brave writer what they learned this week in Writer’s Workshop.

Pumpkin Happenings
Kindergarten scientists continued our study of pumpkins this week as we observed the “Case of the Decomposing Pumpkin”. Students spent time observing and discussing daily changes occurring in the jar. So far they have noticed that it is getting “fuzzy” or “furry” and there is a lot of pumpkin juice at the bottom of the container. Pumpkin enthusiasts spent time preparing for our upcoming pumpkin presentation by rehearsing for our pumpkin play with our very own professional actor, Mr. Ryan! 

Mystery Reader
Kindergarteners have been enjoying visits each week from a Mystery Reader. Every Wednesday, our class is given 3 clues in hopes of guessing whose mom or dad will be stopping by to read a book. Excitement fills the air as students consider whose parent may be stopping by. We have been so fortunate to have so many wonderful Mystery Readers visit with the most fun books that Kindergarten cannot get enough of! We’ve loved having guests each week, and getting to bring moms and dads to join us for a snack in our backyard afterward!
