3rd Grade Composers!

Third graders have been working diligently this week and learning lots, we are so proud of them!

Reading

This week third graders have been becoming experts about their changemakers. Students were asked to dive into non-fiction texts about their changemakers, and hone in on the important details of their lives. After finding these details, students were asked to think about the deeper meaning of these facts and how they contribute to their changemaker’s legacy. Not only does this aid in gaining expertise of their changemaker, but helps their understanding of non-fiction writing and understanding.

Music

Students are ecstatic about their project in music this week! Students have started brainstorming and writing to craft a play in which the whole class can contribute. Our 3rd grade actors will be writing, composing music, and acting in their own show! In Monday’s music class, students started exploring potential ideas for the plot and characters they would enjoy playing in the spring. With the help of their music teacher, Mr. Noodle, the show is bound to be a true work of art!

Writing

Our young authors have been hard at work mastering their persuasive writing skills. Students were asked to think of areas they feel our school or community could use improvement and then offered solutions. Students started drafting persuasive letters to members of our community campaigning how to improve TCS. In these letters, they focused on crafting their thesis statement, and adding supporting details to best convey these goals. Third graders considered how these letters can best persuade the importance of these changes by considering things like need, audience, and tone of voice. They hope to become changemakers through their writing in their own community!
