Love is in the Air
This week, first graders continued working on their compliment books, and their kindness has truly been shining through! Scholars are putting so much effort into writing thoughtful messages for their friends and adding beautiful details to their illustrations. It has been heartwarming to watch the care and pride they are taking in creating something so special for one another. We cannot wait for students to share their completed books with their classmates! We are also very excited about our upcoming bake sale next week and look forward to all the fun it will bring!
Arctic Study
We are still diving into our Arctic study, and first graders are loving every minute of it! Scholars have been continuing their research on Arctic animals, learning interesting facts about where they live, what they eat, and how they survive in such a cold environment. It has been amazing to watch their curiosity grow as they discover more each day. This week, students rotated through fun Arctic centers. They worked together to build igloos, created detailed Arctic drawings, and completed creative crafts to help prepare for our upcoming presentation. Our classroom has been filled with excitement as students proudly share the new information they’ve learned with their classmates. We cannot wait for you to see all of their hard work and hear everything they have learned.

Move Up Day
On Friday, our first graders had a special opportunity to step back into kindergarten for a little trip down memory lane! The future first graders switched classrooms with them so they could get a sneak peek at what first grade will be like next year. Our scholars were thrilled to visit Mrs. Marsha and Mr. Ryan, jump into fun centers, and reminisce about their kindergarten days. We were so proud of our class for graciously sharing their teachers and welcoming the younger students for part of the day—it was a sweet moment for everyone!

Read Aloud
For the past few weeks, our class has been loving our read-aloud book, The Very, Very Far North by Dan Bar-el. This sweet story fits perfectly with our Arctic study and follows a friendly polar bear who makes friends with lots of different Arctic animals, many of the same ones we’re learning about right now. Scholars have really enjoyed listening to the story and making connections to what we’ve been studying. We finished the first book this week and are so excited to start the second one in the series. Ask your scholar what their favorite part of the book was—they’ll be happy to tell you!
