Drama with Charleston Stage!
Students could not wait to meet our visiting friends from Charleston Stage this week! Kindergarten students welcomed guests into our classroom and showed off all that they learned about classroom expectations. Students talked all about an actor’s tools: body, voice, and imagination! We loved watching students tap into their creative sides as they learned new songs and games while finding their storytelling voice.

Magical Math
This week, students have been working very hard on creating their nicest and neatest numbers in math. Students were excited to get extra practice on whiteboards, as we learned rhymes to help us form our numbers in the most efficient and neat way. Through several review games, our classroom has been filled with some of the fanciest 5s and excellent 8s! As Kindergarteners master numbers 1 through 10, we can’t wait to dive further into bigger and trickier numbers!

Brain Science
Students spent the week discussing the brain and what controls different parts of their body. We talked about the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex. Students focused on the prefrontal cortex and its effect on having a calm mindset for thoughtful decision-making. Kindergarteners related to one another by all having remembered a time where their feelings were hurt and then discussed different calming strategies for when they are feeling upset. We are so proud of our brave and growing Kindergarteners.
