Almost There!

Writing About Our Reading
As reading stamina increases, our Kindergarten readers have been bursting with excitement to share funny or exciting parts of their books. This week, Kindergarten readers spent time writing about their reading to try and convince other people to read the same books! These young readers and writers have learned that the best way to convince someone is to give them LOTS of reasons!

Coins
Kindergarteners spent the week investigating U.S. coins and their values! Students worked to identify the similarities and differences between pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters! Once we were familiar, students broke into groups to sort. With a game of Four Corners in our classroom, students practiced identifying the names and values of each coin.

Protecting Penny
After learning all about the engineering process, Kindergarteners were excited to get to work. Students used all of their creativity to create shelter structures to protect our puppy friend, Penny. Using our learned procedures, students knew to Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, and use their observations to Improve. We loved seeing all of the hard work and collaboration in our classroom!
