April Break !!!!

Math

This week in math, we started a new unit on length measurement. Scholars were ecstatic to compare and order objects by length. First graders chose different objects and compared lengths to determine which was longer. We enjoyed using different objects around the classroom to compare. We are loving this unit so far!

Science

We are continuing our light and sound unit in science. This week, we went a little bit deeper into the light portion and looked at lights and mirrors. Scientists used mirrors and flashlights to reflect light off them. Scholars were thrilled to see that they could change the direction of the light just by using objects. We are almost done with this unit and have completed so many fun experiments.

Author Study

We were so thrilled to launch our author study this week. First graders were given a list of authors to choose from and pick their top five choices. Our scholars will become experts on these authors and dig deeper into their world. We can’t wait to share all of what we learned later on!
