Back In The Groove

Solid Shapes
Students were so ready to begin exploring solid shapes this week. Kindergarteners could not wait to share all that they know about different solid shapes and what makes them unique. We were excited to hear all of the things students were familiar with in our world that are made of spheres, pyramids, cones, cubes, and cylinders!

Persuasive Writing
Kindergarten writers have been busy writing up a storm in our persuasive unit! These writers have discovered the formula for sharing their opinions and convincing others. These young writers know that in order to convince someone, they need to give lots of reasons in their writing. Students collaborated on a shared writing to create a petition to help keep the backyard clean at The Cooper School. These young scholars were delighted to use their new knowledge to write letters to make change.

The Mouse and the Motorcycle
Kindergarteners could not contain their excitement to learn about our next read aloud book. Students have fallen in love this year with Elmer and the Dragon, Jenny Linsky, and now Charlotte’s Web. We could not wait to get back together this week and start The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. Kindergarteners are loving hearing all about the adventures and mishaps of Ralph, a mouse who befriends a boy with a toy motorcycle. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the little rodent!
