Too Cute to Spook!
Things are getting spooky at The Cooper School! Second graders have been enjoying all things Halloween this week! During centers, students have decorated our classroom with colorful ghosts that hang from our classroom archway, completed fun crossword puzzles, and designed symmetrical pumpkins using graph paper. As a class, we enjoyed ending our Halloween week with our Halloween Carnival! Middle schoolers did a fantastic job creating fun, spooky, and memorable games and haunted houses for us to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the carnival with us. We hope everyone has a spooky yet sweet Halloween weekend!
Different Ways to Inform
Students discovered that learning can occur in various ways—not just through reading nonfiction books, but also by listening to podcasts and watching educational videos. After realizing this, second graders partnered up and chose topics they both loved and were already knowledgeable about. Together, each pair decided on the best way to teach their audience—whether through a book, podcast, or video. Once students made their choice, they began writing scripts or drafting books, using expert vocabulary related to their topics and focusing on the key facts they wanted their audience to understand. The classroom is now buzzing with excitement as second graders prepare to share their creative scripts and books with their classmates soon!
