Cluster Fun
This week during Cooper Clusters, our scholars worked together on a very exciting and creative challenge! Students teamed up to design and build their very own Leprechaun traps in preparation for Saint Patrick’s Day. Scholars spent time thinking carefully about how to make their traps strong, clever, and tricky enough to catch those sneaky leprechauns. Using materials such as shoeboxes, string, paper, and other craft supplies, each group worked collaboratively to plan, build, and decorate their traps. It was wonderful to see students sharing ideas, problem-solving together, and using their creativity to bring their designs to life. The classroom was filled with excitement, teamwork, and lots of imaginative thinking as students proudly worked on their creations. Be sure to ask your scholar all about the Leprechaun trap they helped create and how they plan to catch those tricky little leprechauns!
Thoughtful First Graders
This week, our scholars learned about several local charities that will benefit from our upcoming Pass It On sales. Students were introduced to the important work of Wings for Kids, Landmark for Families, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. After learning about each organization and the ways they support children in our community, our school came together to vote on one charity to support this year. The winning organization was Wings for Kids!As we explored each program, scholars learned how these organizations help children by providing resources such as meals, after-school programs, and mentoring opportunities. Our focus this year is on supporting kids who may need extra help and care outside of school.First graders had thoughtful discussions about what it means to help others and why giving back to our community is so important. We were so proud to see the empathy and excitement our scholars showed as they realized that their hard work through Pass It On can make a real difference in the lives of other children.
Poetry
This week, our first graders continued their work with poetry. Scholars spent time learning all about haikus and practiced adding strong feelings and emotions to their poems. They are digging deep, thinking carefully about their words, and bringing their emotions to life through their writing. It has been wonderful to see their creativity grow as they explore this new style of poetry.We can’t wait to share all of these amazing poems with you later on!
