Fourth graders have had another wonderful week of learning and growing!
Writing
After gaining a base understanding of the American Revolution, students have embarked on writing their first historical non-fiction essay. Students have chosen specific areas of interest and begun researching topics like colonial life, the ride of Paul Revere, and the Boston Tea Party. Through this first writing assignment in the unit, the students’ goal is to better understand what the Revolution’s purpose was, and how these historic events fit into its timeline. This not only gives students an opportunity to gain historical knowledge of the U.S, but also researching and writing skills.
Specials
Fourth graders have been enjoying yoga, music, choir, and PE. As Mr. Noodle leads them in music, with current focus being putting chords together and being able to play as small groups. The class is enjoying learning new ways to move their bodies and calm their minds in yoga and PE. This week, fourth graders are mostly focused on choir, in anticipation of the choir concert happening next week! They are excited to showcase their skills with the three songs they’ve chosen, working hard as a group and individually on solos!
Computer Science
Fourth graders were over the moon when TCS middle schoolers offered to come teach elementary students what they’ve learned about coding! The class was divided into pairings and taught a variety of coding methods. Our class loved learning how to build and code an animal dance party, an adventure game, and the class favorite, coding a song. The class was so thankful for middle schoolers offering to apply what they’ve learned and pass on those skills, as well as giving fourth graders an inside look into what middle school electives look like!
