Colder Days!

How-To Writing
This week, Kindergarteners could not wait to get started in their newest writing unit, How-To Books! Students learned all about How-To Books, and how they teach their reader how things are done, step by step! Kindergarteners thought about all of the things they know how to do, considered breaking them down step by step, and got them on to paper! We were so excited to learn all about how to paint our nails, how to make a friend and how to do laundry!

Do-Si-Do Math
We had so much fun this week playing a new game to practice our math facts! Given the direction, students wandered around our classroom waiting to hear PAUSE. Once they stopped, students found a partner! With their partner, students used their fingers to show one way to make a given number. We were so impressed to see how many math facts our students already knew, as well as all of the different ways they were able to make numbers!

Textiles
This week, students learned all about how to teach others how to do things… so we celebrated our Clothing Study by learning how some fabrics are woven together! Students learned all about the process of shearing sheep for wool, as well as how silkworms are responsible for the thread we use in silk! Students loved learning about the wonders of nature and making connections about their own clothes!
