Purposes of Clothing
Kindergarten designers kicked off our clothing study this week by talking all about the purposes of clothing! Students learned that clothing is used in four different ways: modesty, protection, decoration, and communication. Using what they know about clothing for communication, students redesigned The Cooper School uniform in a way they thought best communicated to people where they attended school. We are so excited for our unit ahead.

Getting Into Shape
This week, students wrapped up our study of shapes in math by applying everything they know to classroom games. Our new favorite game in Kindergarten is called Guess Who – Shape Edition. In it, students use shape descriptors to ask yes or no questions about a board of shapes. With each question, students eliminated shapes one by one to figure out exactly what shape their partner was referring to!

Natural Dyes
Each year, TCS elementary students put together Gratitude Books in celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday. It is tradition that Kindergarteners work to create the paper for covers for the entire school! Students had so much fun using natural dyes created by onions, beets, blueberries and red cabbage to create artwork to be used for their peers’ work!
