Gratitude Writing
This week, Kindergarteners finished up Gratitude Books just in time for our annual Harvest Feast. Gratitude Books are a TCS tradition, allowing students to reflect on and acknowledge the things in their life they are thankful for. We loved getting to sit with Kindergarteners while they illustrated all of the things in their life that make them feel safe and cared about!
Addition
Students could not wait to launch our latest math unit this week, addition! Students began to look at and add together groups of objects, finding hidden pairs of numbers within many numbers under 10! Using counting cubes, Kindergarteners worked with partners to find the sum of addition problems and to show off all of their counting skills.
Donald Crews
Kindergarteners have been hard at work in their Donald Crews study in Reading. Donald Crews is an American illustrator and writer of children books, honored with The Children’s Literature Legacy Award. His works, Freight Train and Trucks, were Caldecott Honor Recipients. Kindergarteners have loved getting the chance to dig through some of Donalds’ works, including Flying, Harbor, Night at the Fair, Parade, Ten Black Dots, Bigmama’s and more!
