Can You Haiku?
This week, brave readers and writers explored haiku poetry through the reading and writing of these 3 lined expressions. First Graders have been busy composing haikus about nature. They know these special poems are usually said in one breath and have a line to tell when, where, and what the haiku is about. Scholars were very excited to learn more about poetry. Ask your young poet what they learned about haikus this week!
Light & Sound
This week in first grade, we started a new science unit all about light and sound. Scholars shared different instruments and the types of sounds they make. We learned about sound waves, vibrations, and pitches. Scholars even conducted some fun science experiments making sounds using cups, rubber bands, paper clips, and popsicle sticks. Ask your child all about science this week!
