Science
This week in science, we continued our sound and light unit. Scholars completed a sound challenge and made a string telephone which they could communicate with each other through! We also went more into the light part of our unit this week. Scholars were able to use a flashlight to look at materials with different shadows. Ask your scholar all about science this week!
Poetry
Continuing with our poetry unit, students spent the week building their poetry portfolios. First Graders continued to discuss poetry tools like repetition, rhythm, and alliteration, and spent the week applying it to their writing. Some began composing poems based on their newly discovered tools, while others have taken the chance to revise past works. We are so impressed and enthralled by our poetic First Grade class!
Fourth Grade Buddies
On Friday, first graders got to end the afternoon with fourth grade. Scholars were ecstatic to do reading buddies and centers with them. Fourth graders helped us with finger knitting and a directed drawing. We even played some fun math games with them. Ask your child all about this fun-filled afternoon!
