Goodbye Cooper Village

Goodbye Cooper Village!

We are sad to have completed Cooper Village, but we are so proud of Second Graders for all their hard work! Students loved showing off their Cooper Village houses and businesses, their dream house layouts, what a natural disaster is and how to protect yourself, a day in the life of their job, and the fun add ons to Cooper Village! Thank you again for all the recyclable materials donated and for coming to our presentation

Cooper Village

Do you know the time?

Students continued their knowledge of fractions to understand fourths and quarters on a clock. Second graders partitioned a face clock into 4 quarters to tell time using quarter past, half past, and quarter ‘til. The hour hand is shorter than the minute hand on a clock. Students learned that on a face clock the hour hand moves toward the next hour as time passes and the numbers represent the minutes in 5-minute intervals. Second graders know that each hour is shown twice a day, once in the AM and one in the PM. Students created their own daily schedule to help them understand the difference between AM and PM. Next time you want to know the time, ask your second grader!

Self-Assessment

Second graders are excited to share their hard work with you all next week (March 3rd & 4th)! They have worked hard practicing their favorite math game, reading their “just right book”, and spell checking their work. Students have worked hard to share with you where they have improved, what they need to work on, and what their most exciting accomplishment has been this year, and what was challenging to them. We are so proud of second graders for digging deep and going above and beyond! We can’t wait to see you all at self-assessment!

We are Independent!

This week we introduced independence for student’s social emotional learning! We discussed as a class what independence means to us and where we have shown independence. Individually we wrote down where we are independent this year and where we would like to be more independent at the end of second grade!
