Happy Halloween!

Math

This week, our fourth-grade mathematicians finished up their fraction study. They’ve worked so hard to master every concept! They learned how to identify fractions, compare them, put them in order, find equivalent fractions, and even add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. Students finished off the unit by comparing and adding fractions with denominators of 10 and 100. By the end of their unit, the 4th graders have gained confidence in their ability to reason with fractions and explain their thinking clearly. They should all feel proud of their hard work, persistence, and the strong math skills they’ve built along the way.

Revolution study

This week, students have been working diligently on putting together their best works for next week’s presentation! Fourth graders have finalized their debate talking points, essays, and propaganda pieces in an effort to paint a clear picture of understanding the Revolution and its timeline. The class has worked incredibly hard independently, as well as in groups and pairs, to recreate the Second Continental Congress next week! We hope to see you at 2:00 on November 6th in the library for their presentation.

Happy Halloween!

The class has loved getting to work and play all things Halloween this week! In centers, students have been using the tinkering cart to craft costumes for their skeleton, Mr. Bones they constructed during the Human Body Unit. Additionally, the Halloween Carnival here at TCS is one of the events students look forward to most every year! Put on by our middle school students, fourth graders were over the moon excited to get to celebrate the holiday with the entire community! Getting to see everyone dress up, play games, and craft, and wrapping up the day’s festivities with a costume winner was a blast!  Thank you to all the TCS community members who came to celebrate with us!
