Reading Buddies
On Thursday first graders had the pleasure of having the middle school book club come and visit us. Scholars were excited to be able to read some of their favorite books to the middle schoolers. First graders learned what favorite book their middle schooler liked when they were in first grade. We can’t wait to have them come back and see us again!
Writing
Scholars have been so motivated to write their opinions about their collections! This week we had the opportunity to talk about other students’ collections and decide if we agree or disagree with our classmates’ opinions. Students chose someone that they disagree with and wrote a counter-argument. They are learning strategies to use in their writing to really convince their readers!
Social Studies
Our scholars have been studying facts in our Australia books all week. They have learned amazing facts about the animals in the biomes of Australia. Did you know that there are three times as many sheep in Australia as people, a platypus is highly poisonous, koalas sleep about twenty hours a day, and there are over fifty species of kangaroos and wallabies? These are some of the extraordinary pieces of information our students have learned thus far
