Math:

This week, we finished off strong by exploring more about equations and expressions. When we return from break, we’ll learn about the relationships between graphs, tables, and linear equations.

ELA:

This week, 6th grade readers began a nonfiction unit where we explored how “longer form” nonfiction novels organize complex information. We also reviewed prepositions as an extension of grammar study.

After break, 6th graders will begin reading their own nonfiction novels from which they will build a real lesson plan to teach information to younger students. We will continue grammar study, with a test planned for 1/15.

Social Studies:

Sixth grade finished up learning about Japan and China this week and had a great time with our holiday review game. When we get back from break we will start ancient India. Have a great holiday!

Science:

The sixth graders learned more about how our immune system works this week! They also picked one disease that changed history to research and learn how it impacted our society. They will present their work when we return after break. They will also start to learn about biomimicry when we return to school, and will begin brainstorming for their biomimicry project.

Important Dates:

December 20 – Holiday Extravaganza & PJ Day (½ Day – 11:30 Dismissal)
