Math:

This week, we briefly dove into unit 5 by explaining what a proportional relationship is, and comparing relationships between two variables. When we return from break, we’ll investigate equations and their slopes, and solutions to a two variable equation.

ELA:

7th grade transitioned back to writing this week, starting an exciting study of realistic fiction writing. We learned tried and true techniques for ideating stories based on inspiration from real life mixed with healthy exercises of asking “what if?” We also did a small prepositions review as an extension of our grammar studies.

After break, writers will zero in on the story and characters that interest them most as they develop them into longer narratives for the final piece. We will pick our grammar studies back up with a test planned for 1/15.

Social Studies:

Seventh grade learned about what America was like after the Constitution was written and we discussed the beginning of Antebellum America. That will be our next unit of study when we return from break. Stay safe and have fun!

Science:

Seventh graders had a great field trip to the Audubon Swamp and Magnolia Plantation on Monday. We saw an alligator, a heron, yellow-belly sliders, and more! The seventh graders completed their presentations about their local ecosystem. They will present them when we return from break. We will also start to brainstorm project ideas when we return to school.

Important Dates:

December 20 – Holiday Extravaganza & PJ Day (½ Day – 11:30 Dismissal)
