We Made Glue!
Scientists took time this week to observe new substances to determine if they would like to add them to their glue mixture. Students used their data from their previous glue-making experiment and discussed with their partners what they would do differently and what they would keep the same. Our goal for this unit was to make glue that was sticky, smooth, a liquid, odorless, dried hard, and clear (this was the tricky part). Scientists ended the unit by choosing what ingredients they wanted and how much of each ingredient to make their glue mixture. We tested our experiment by making picture frames with popsicle sticks!
Countdown Chain
Second graders put together a paper chain to help count down the days of school left before summer break! On each link, students wrote a goal they wanted the class to achieve that day. This paper chain is a chance for our class to continue building community, collaborating, and growing optimism, our current focus in SEL (Social Emotional Learning). We are so proud of the second graders for staying motivated to achieve each other’s goals and for showing such optimism every day! Be sure to ask your students what goal they added to our paper chain!
