Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day from our amazing second graders! We loved ending our week full of love, fun, bingo and yummy baked treats! Students enjoyed sharing their Valentines with each other and filling each others’ buckets. Our favorite part of our day was reading our compliment books. Second graders have been working very hard to write kind and thoughtful compliments for each of their classmates and today they got to read what sweet compliments each of their classmates had for them. Thank you everyone who came out to our Valentine’s Day Bingo and Bake Sale! We had a great time!

Cooper Village

Cooper Village is coming to life and we could not be more excited! Last week second graders focused on building their villages in their group and this week students worked on their individual houses. Students chose recycled materials and used their creative mind to build their house. Students then painted their houses and designed the layout of the inside of their house. Finally students were given a certain amount of “money” to buy materials for their houses. Students had to think about the natural disaster they live in and how to protect their house the best they can, what material is eco-friendly, and had to make difficult choices between wants and needs for their house based on prices. We love the imagination in this class and seeing their creativity flowing. Second graders’ house designs are fantastic and the inside layout of their house is unlike anything you’ve ever seen! Second graders cannot wait to share their project with you!

Self-Assessment

We have a Cooper School tradition at this time each year where students take time to reflect on their year in school. Students focus on their favorite unit in each subject, where they feel they have grown the most, what they feel they still need to work on, and share their favorite special area class. This work helps remind students just how hard they have been working and shows them with evidence how much they have grown. We enjoy the confidence this gives our second graders! Students will share this with their loved ones during their student led conferences!

Important dates:

Feb 17th – 18th – February Break

Feb 25th – Cooper Village at 2:00pm

Mar 3rd & 4th – Student Led Conferences (11:30 Dismissal)
