South Carolina Aquarium
This week, Kindergarteners were so excited to hop on The Cooper School bus and head downtown to the South Carolina Aquarium. As part of our Biomes study, students were excited to investigate the life cycles of a saltmarsh. Students were so excited to identify the wetland areas of the aquariums and how they were able to recognize them! We also had a blast checking in on the Sea Turtle Hospital, stopping by the touch tank, and stopping for a show hosted by a scuba diver!
Black History Month
With the start of February, Kindergarteners were excited to learn all about Black History Month. This week, we spent time reading about black changemakers who have made a difference in the world! Students were excited to honor and observe Rosa Parks Day this Tuesday. We also read, “Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?”, a book all about black inventors and their creations! Students were so excited to discover that some of the things we treasure most were invented by black creators: air conditioning, guitars, pencil sharpeners, and Super Soakers!
Reading Buddies
Students were so excited to welcome 8th grade Reading Buddies into our classroom! Kindergarteners love building community through sharing the joy of reading. Our eighth grade friends stopped by our classroom and allowed Kindergarten students to choose some of their favorite picture books in our classroom to read. We love our TCS community!
