We Are Readers
This week, our Kindergarteners continued examining the habits of good writers during our writing workshop time. These scholars know that they are the “Boss of Their Writing” and discussed the many ways to be independent problem-solvers during our writing time. They are able to independently find writing tools in our classroom and even place their writing into their very own writing folder! Kindergarten writers know to work with focus to get their ideas down on paper with pictures and beginning sound labels! These brave writers know to use our classroom resources like our alphabet chart or Zoo Phonics song if they get stuck on a letter sound. These busy writers know not to waste one precious moment of our wonderful writing time!

A Walk In Our Shoes
This week, students could not wait to show off the shoes they brought in to be used for the Walk In Our Shoes project. Now that all Kindergarteners have chosen the shoes they will use, each student got a chance to share their shoe with the class as well as the reason why they picked it. Some chose old shoes with lots of memories, some brought fancy shoes covered in glitter, and some even brought some of their athletic shoes to tell us more about something they love. Using shoes as their canvas, Kindergarteners created a work of art including their favorite things: colors, animals, foods, and activities! We are so excited to invite the whole school to take a Walk in Their Shoes to see the world through the eyes of a Kindergartener!

Counting to 10
Kindergarteners got a chance to practice counting in groups this week as they created counting books of their own. On each page, students drew groups of objects one through ten. Kindergarteners were so excited to practice writing their numbers 1-10 as well! Students are mastering counting with a one-to-one correspondence and recognizing objects in small groups.
