Independent Kindergarteners

Desert & Rainforest
This week, students continued their biome study by exploring two more ecosystems! Students learned all about the distinct climate, flora and fauna. Using what they know about the different biomes, Kindergarteners worked on a class sort, separating animals into biomes by adaptations that help them survive. We are having so much fun learning about so many critters around the world!

Vowel Power
Kindergarteners spent the week strengthening their vowel power during our phonics time. Scholars carefully reviewed these stretchy vowel sounds and studied closely what our mouths, lips, teeth, and tongues do when we make each vowel sound. Kindergarteners read passages, words, and sentences to flex our vowel-reading muscles. They even wrote words, sentences and drew pictures with labels to show off their growing vowel power!

Independence
This month, Kindergarteners have been working on their own independence. Now that we are nearly 100 days into school, students are being reminded and guided on how to be the boss of their own body (and belongings!). We have been so proud to see students working to pack up their own lunch, put on their jacket, or clean up their own mess without assistance. We love getting to celebrate how grown up our young friends are becoming!
