As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to celebrate the growth, achievements, and memories we’ve made together. Spring brings new energy—and our students are finishing strong! Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Math:
This week, 6th graders reviewed for and took their unit 7 test over operations and applications of all rational numbers. Next week, we will dive into our final unit of study – which covers representing and analyzing data. We’ll start with understanding mean, median, mode, and different types of graph to show data!
ELA:
6th grade readers continued reading The Last Cherry Blossom tracking the ways in which characters impact and challenge one another as the story unfolds. We took part in end-of-year grammar reviews and ERB skills prep, as well.
After break, 6th graders will finish and respond to The Last Cherry Blossom by taking part in a peace class modeled after practices in Japanese classrooms. Their novel-journal pages will be due for review and grading on April 25th.
Social Studies:
Sixth graders continue to work on their research papers. They have really picked up the concepts of outlining and researching it takes to write a historical paper! We have also continued to learn about the Greeks and how they’re civilization helps shape the world we live in today. We are also starting to prepare for our next project, in which they will become Greek soldiers and fight off the Persian invasion!
Science:
The sixth graders explored sensory receptive fields this week. They learned how there are parts of our body that have lots of small receptive sensory fields and other parts that have fewer and larger fields. They experimented this phenomenon with a blind-folded partner who had to guess a certain amount of pokes from a paper clip. The sixth graders also started a new project about genetically-modified organisms, inspired by Omnivore’s Dilemma. Next week, they will continue to learn about our senses, and how humans respond to their environment.
