As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to celebrate the growth, achievements, and memories we’ve made together. Spring brings new energy—and our students are finishing strong! Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Math:
This week in Algebra 1, we practiced and reviewed solving for different parts of the quadratic function – they’ll also get a study guide for their FINAL Algebra 1 test on Wednesday! Next week, we’ll wrap up reviewing and take our test, which will be on Wednesday the 23rd.
ELA:
8th grade journalists began drafting their articles and conducting interviews for their investigations this week. We discussed how to present data, facts, and interviews while still showcasing our own voices as journalists. We also continued ERB skills review as we approach the final weeks of school.
After break, 8th graders will revise and publish articles by April 24th (I’ve moved back our due date!). We can’t wait to print our class newspaper for parents and peers to enjoy!
Social Studies:
The eighth graders are finishing imperialism and will be having their test next Thursday, the 17th. Study guides have been given out and we will be going over them together. They have also been working hard on their research papers. They are finishing up the outlining stage and should start the rough draft next week.
Science:
Eighth graders learned about heterogeneous and homogeneous genotypes this week. They explored the probabilities of different scenarios in a gene pool. They started a new project about dinosaurs, which was inspired by our trip to the Natural History Museum. The eighth graders also contemplated how birds of paradise pick their mates, based on the courting rituals passed down from generation to generation through genetics. Next week, they will continue to learn more about evolution and how mutations impact change.
