Saint Patrick’s Day
This week we celebrated Saint Patrick’s day with our clusters. Students worked really hard on the last cluster day to complete their leprechaun traps. Scholars were ecstatic to go in the backyard and see if they caught any leprechauns. Those tricky guys let notes and green bead bracelets. The whole school also got to listen to our spirit squad from middle school read the book “how to catch a leprechaun. We had so much fun , ask your scholar all about it.
Math Fun
This week in math, our first graders began an exciting new unit on measurement! Students have been exploring and comparing objects of different lengths throughout the classroom. They are practicing using math vocabulary such as “longer than,” “shorter than,” and “equal to” to describe and compare what they see.Scholars have been actively measuring a variety of classroom items using hands-on strategies, helping them build a strong understanding of length in a fun and meaningful way. We love seeing their excitement and curiosity grow as they explore measurement each day! Ask your scholar what they have measured around the classroom!
1st Grade Poets
We are continuing to dive deep into our poetry unit, and our first graders are truly blossoming as young poets! This week, scholars have been busy writing their very own original poems, using their creativity and imagination to bring their ideas to life.Students were introduced to new poetry elements such as onomatopoeia and free verse, and they have been excited to experiment with these styles in their writing. They are also continuing to build their “poetry toolbox” by incorporating similes, metaphors, alliteration, and other literary techniques to make their poems more vivid and expressive.It has been so special to watch their confidence grow as they take risks and share their voices through poetry. Their love for writing is shining through in all of their hard work, and we are so proud of their progress. We can’t wait to share their beautiful poems with you soon—stay tuned!
