Metric Tons of Fun!
Third grade scientists have truly mastered the ins and outs of motion and eagerly jumped into exploring matter this week. They learned how to measure accurately using scientific tools, investigated what happens when two substances are mixed together, and practiced measuring distance with precision. Through hands-on experiments, students discovered that mixtures can stay the same, become cloudy, form a solution, or even create a chemical reaction. We wrapped up our motion and matter unit with a Metric Field Day, where students had fun putting their knowledge to the test through relay races, matter guessing games, paper airplane tosses, and more!
Students wrapped up their measurement unit this week and eagerly jumped into geometry! We learned about 90-degree angles and how to determine whether angles are smaller or larger than 90 degrees. Students explored the attributes of different shapes, discovered what vertices are, and practiced classifying shapes based on their characteristics. We are excited to watch these young geometrists grow as we continue to dive deeper into this unit!
