This week in third grade was truly special!
California Dreaming….
This week TCS students performed in their choir concert, where first through fourth graders sang songs from holidays around the world. The students worked hard to prepare and showed great courage performing in front of all the parents. It was wonderful to have so many of you join us and share in this celebration.
Caw Caw
On Wednesday, our class took a field trip to Caw Caw Interpretive Center, connecting to our science unit on organisms and survival. The students walked the trails with a guide, spotted animal tracks, and learned about local species. In the lab, they observed organisms under a microscope, asking thoughtful questions and making observations. It was a day full of learning and discovery.
Holiday Extravaganza
We have continued our Japanese New Year study. Over the past two weeks, we’ve learned about starting the new year with fresh beginnings. The students made otoshidama—decorative envelopes traditionally filled with money, which we filled with our well wishes for one another. We also cleaned our classroom together, just as families in Japan clean their homes to prepare for a fresh new year. The week ended with a recreation of a Japanese New Year ceremony, where students cleansed their hands, bowed, rang a chime, and wrote wishes for themselves and their families.
Thank you for sharing in this memorable week with us. We hope you have wonderful break and cannot wait to see our class when we return!
