Self-Assessments
This week, Kindergarteners welcomed family members into our classroom to show off all of the growth and learning that they have done this year. Students rotated through three stations to show off their gained skills: an interview with Mr. Ryan about their self-assessment portfolio, a look at their published writing (and the journey to get there) with Ms. Marsha, as well as a game of Race to 100 to show off their math skills! We are so proud of all of our scholars’ hard work. Thank you for all that you do to help your Kindergartener be successful!
Launching Poetry
This week, Kindergarten readers and writers got a taste of what it means to look at the world through the eyes of a poet! Students noticed the classroom was flooded with poetry as we launched our new reading and writing units. We investigated what poems look like on paper and sound like when they are read aloud. Kindergartners learned that looking at the world through the eyes of a poet means making connections to the world around us and our thoughts and feelings!
Bigger Numbers
This week, we were so excited to work with larger numbers! Using the 10-frames that students are already familiar with, students began to create assortments of numbers between 11-20. Students also began practicing and identifying numbers in their teens. Brave mathematicians have been so proud to show off how they’ve leveled up in math!
