Cooper Cluster Fun
This week, we had our first Cooper Cluster Day of the year, and it was such a joyful experience! Once a month, our students gather with their Cooper Cluster groups, which include friends from across all grade levels. These groups are such an important part of maintaining our strong school community and building lasting connections. On Wednesday, clusters played getting-to-know-you games that had everyone laughing and learning about one another. Each group also designed and decorated a team pennant to hang in our library.

SEL
In Social Emotional Learning, we continued discussing self-regulation. Students learned about the amygdala, which can make us feel big emotions like fear or frustration. We discussed how our “thinking brain” can step in and help us make calmer, more thoughtful choices. The class shared examples of times when they have felt their “amygdala activated” and brainstormed strategies to help themselves override those strong feelings. It was a powerful conversation, and we are already seeing students put their self-regulation tools into practice.

Field trip to the Planetarium
We also had the exciting opportunity to take a field trip to the planetarium! Our third and fourth graders were captivated by a short film called Sun Struck, which helped them better understand the importance of our sun. Afterward, they went on a scavenger hunt and discovered even more about our solar system. It was fun to watch their curiosity grow as they connected what they’ve been learning in science class to what they saw and experienced in the planetarium. We came back full of questions and excitement to keep exploring the wonders of space.
