Pass It On Week

Proud Poets
This week, students were eager for the opportunity to shine by reading their Pass It On poems for an audience. Kindergarteners arrived donning their fanciest formal wear to proudly show off all of their new poetry skills. Leading up to this special day, students spent time practicing in partnerships, groups, and in front of the class to prepare for their big stage debut. These brave scholars have mastered projecting their voice and reading in front of an audience, which is pretty big work for a Kindergartener!

We Are Engineers
Kindergarteners have spent the week helping to protect Penny, a puppy in need of some shade in the hot summer sun! Students are reading a case study about siblings, Amir and Maya, and their attempts to engineer a structure for their dog. Students know that engineers Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, and then Improve to make it better! Kindergarteners spent this week sorting through and deciding which materials were ideal for building. Students can’t wait to begin construction!

Runaway Ralph
This week, students were excited to wrap up the sequel to Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. In Runaway Ralph, Ralph decides to take his motorcycle on an adventure to summer camp, away from the Mountain View Inn. Once there, Ralph gets tangled up in trouble with a boy named Garf, a hamster named Chum, a dog named Sam, and a cat named Catso! By the story’s end, Ralph decides to head back to the hotel! Students were excited to dive head first into the third book in the trilogy, Ralph S. Mouse!
