In writing this week, our 4th graders dove into the fascinating world of character development by exploring internal and external factors that shape a character’s journey. They analyzed how personal motivations and traits drive story arcs, enriching their understanding of realistic fiction structure. Fourth graders start with this unit to build a better understanding of all the components authors must weave together to write compelling stories. Through engaging activities and lively class discussions, students are beginning to craft their own realistic fiction stories with well-rounded characters and dynamic plots. We cannot wait to read their final products!
Fourth graders have been mastering factors and multiples this week in math! Students have been working hard to know and understand the difference between factor pairs that can be multiplied to get a product, and multiples that are the product of those numbers. Similarly, this week has solidified student’s understanding of prime and composite numbers. These skills are important foundational work for the multiplication that will be required for higher level math. We are so proud of them for mastering these concepts and growing as mathematicians!
This week, students have continued to take ownership of their community! Fourth graders have started tending to the community garden spaces on campus. Watering and monitoring the greenhouse and hydroponic gardens daily, to ensure they grow alongside students! We are so proud of our students for taking ownership of their community, growing patience, and making a positive impact on the environment. This project also works in tandem with caring for the beehive in our classroom, providing food sources for our bee friends!
