Going into May, it is amazing to see just how fast this year has gone by! With the nice weather fast approaching and the end of the year on the horizon, I always take time at this point of the school year to look back and think of all we have accomplished. The middle school has done so much and each grade has been able to put their own stamp on this school year. We all enjoy this time where we start to wrap up units, tests and projects and even ERB testing, so we can focus on the fun things like class trips, field day and the signing of year books! I hope for the end of the year we can all look back and reflect on just how magical this year was and I hope the students always remember the friendships and memories they have been able to make!

ELA: This week in ELA, 6th grade finished Catherine Called Birdy, discussing major themes and symbols of the novel. Ms. Allison assisted us in creating well-measured and proportional illuminated manuscript pages that mimic the layouts of books during Catherine’s time. We filled them with illustrations of mythical creatures and descriptions that leaned heavily on our understanding of symbols from the medieval period as depicted in our novels. 6th grade tested vocabulary on Thursday, and should have grades in their take home folders.
Next week, 6th grade will make final touches to manuscripts and present their work. We will take part in major end-of-year grammar and vocab reviews, as well!
Science: 6th graders crushed their ERB testing this week! I am so proud of them!
Social Studies: 6th grade did a fantastic job on the ERB testing, We also took our final test on Greece and Rome. We also did work on our research papers! Next week we will continue with the papers, diving deeper into how a historical paper is written and I will be working with them individually to give them guidance going forward.
Math: This week in math, the 6th graders crushed their ERB tests. I’m so proud of them! They were confident, careful, and proud. Next week, we’re going to spend some more time reviewing concepts that we need to hone in on before 7th grade, and even do a small project or two to help us practice and apply all of the skills we’ve learned this year! We’re also going to use our mastery of ratios to help us create a frame for a medieval manuscript project in ELA.
