So Proud in Third Grade

Goodbye Asia Study

We are so proud of Third Grade and their hard work during the Asia Presentation. Seeing their preparation and dedication come to life was truly amazing and such a joyful moment for all of us. Students loved sharing their culture trees, speaking in front of parents, and reading their essays to their peers with confidence and pride. We are also incredibly grateful for the guest experts who joined our class and helped bring our study to life through their stories and experiences, as well as for the continued support from our families. The Taiko drumming experience was a highlight for many students and added such an exciting and meaningful element to this special celebration of learning. We truly cannot express how proud we are of your children. They have impressed us so much with their genuine appreciation for diverse cultures and the thoughtful ways they continue to carry this learning into their everyday lives.

Peace Wheel

This week, Third Grade dug into the meaning behind The Cooper School Peace Wheel and how to use it thoughtfully and effectively. The Peace Wheel is original to The Cooper School and was created by students for students, making it an especially meaningful tool in our community. It guides deep and respectful conversations when conflicts arise. Students spent time reflecting on why each step of the Peace Wheel is important and how it helps build understanding. As a fundamental part of our social-emotional learning, the Peace Wheel empowers students to communicate with empathy and perspective. This week, they even practiced using it with made-up scenarios, engaging in thoughtful conversations while holding empathy and showing genuine understanding of a friend’s point of view. Students are excited to share how and when to use the Peace Wheel with parents during their upcoming self-assessments.

Trimester Two

As we wrap up Trimester Two, we want to take a moment to shine a light on the incredible growth we have seen within this third grade group. They have blossomed into strong nonfiction readers, detailed informational writers, and phenomenal storytellers. They have shown curiosity and focus as dedicated scientists, confidence and perseverance as mathematicians, and thoughtful insight as cultural experts. Most importantly, they are becoming more independent with each passing day, taking ownership of their learning and supporting one another along the way. We are so excited to see what the final trimester holds for these amazing third graders.
