Addition To Teens
This week, students built on their knowledge and understanding of teen numbers by breaking them down into addition problems. These brave mathematicians noticed a pattern when decomposing teen numbers! Kindergarteners know that 10 + a number below ten will give you a teen number with that digit in it (10 + 7 =17)! Rock on, mathematicians!

Puppet Factory
In our classroom, we have been exploring the wonderful world of puppets! Students have been excited to learn about all of the different types of puppets as well as their history. This week, students were excited to learn about and watch a performance of Bunraku, a traditional Japanese puppet theater that has been practiced since the 17th century. We are so proud of our little puppeteers!

Riddle-Ku
This week, brave writers welcomed spring and explored the wonderful world of haiku! Young poets learned that haikus are 3 line poems written about the here and now. After reading “Lion of the Sky” by Laura Purdie Salas, brave poets built on their understanding of haiku by crafting playful haiku riddles about the seasons.
