As our Middle Schoolers begin heading out on their end of year field trips, I’m reminded of the sweet memories from my middle school field trips that I still hold near and dear to my heart. My 8th grade year, we flew from Indianapolis to Washington D.C. with the classmates we had grown up with, and got a taste of independence as we meandered the city without our parents. Although being in another city was so special and eye-opening – being with my favorite teachers and my closest friends are what ultimately made that trip so memorable. I’m just so STOKED for our kiddos to make the same long-lasting memories that I’m sure as adults, they’ll fondly reflect on just like we do!

Math:
This week, the 7th graders hung out with Ms. Maggie while the other grades headed out on trips and took their ERB tests. Next week, We’ll review for and take their unit 7 test before we leave for Earth Shine on Wednesday!
ELA:
7th graders worked heavily on ERB and end of year review skills this week – vocabulary, writing mechanics, logical thinking, and comprehension all covered! We also took time to watch The Sound of Music, comparing and contrasting its depiction of WWII to our reading of The Book Thief.
Next week, 7th graders will do a little review before going off to Earthshine. I can’t wait to spend time with this awesome group of humans up in the mountains!
Social Studies:
Seventh graders have been learning about the Civil War and the Reconstruction era of the United States. We have also been working on our papers and remember the rough draft is due on the 14th. We will continue to work on the paper until they leave for their trip to Earthshine. I hope they enjoy the trip and the weather is good while they are there!
