Jumping Back Into Learning!
Welcome back! It’s been so wonderful to see everyone after winter break, and we’ve jumped right into some exciting new topics. This week in social studies, we started our Asia study. We began by reviewing the continents and oceans, then zoomed in on Asia to explore its geography and incredible diversity. We’re learning about different biomes, like temperate forests and mountains. We love seeing the students already full of curiosity and enthusiasm as we begin this new adventure!
In reading, we’ve launched a new unit called Research Book Clubs, and it ties in perfectly with our Asia study. Students are learning how to read for research and have started discussing their findings in book clubs. This unit gives us a chance to combine reading and social studies as students learn about some amazing animals found in Asia, such as tigers, elephants, and pandas. It’s been great to see how excited they are to share what they’ve learned and work together to deepen their understanding.
We’ve also started one of our favorite yearly traditions at TCS: choosing our One Word for the new year. This is a time for students and faculty to reflect on their goals for the year ahead. It’s not quite like a resolution—it’s more of a guiding word that represents what we want to focus on throughout 2025. It has been wonderful to watch our class take time and dig a little deeper!
