Bye Bye Butterflies
Kindergarteners have been investigating the life cycle of butterflies with a focus on the incredible monarch migration to Mexico. Young scientists have been eagerly awaiting and observing as our butterflies completed their magical metamorphosis. At the beginning of the week, we were thrilled to find some of our classroom butterflies waiting to greet us, with beautiful wings ready to fly! After giving their wings some time to dry, our butterflies were ready to begin their new adventures! Kindergarteners were thrilled to release our butterfly friends by sending them off with well wishes for their journey. These sweet friends thanked the butterflies for allowing us to observe them and sent them to fly the beautiful skies with words of love and kindness.
Writing to Show & Tell
Kindergarten writers have grown so much as writers! This week, Kindergarten writers launched into our Show & Tell writing unit with great excitement! Scholars spent the week observing a stuffed animal, then planning what they were going to draw and write to tell about the stuffed animal. These brave writers worked hard stretching out words to capture as many sounds as they could to add labels and write about their stuffed animals. Ask your Kindergartener to share what they learned about Show & Tell writing!
Publishing Party
Kindergarteners were so excited to celebrate First Graders this week by hearing their latest published writing pieces, small moment personal narratives. We loved getting to see students celebrate friendships across grade levels! Kindergarteners are expert bucket fillers, so our room was abuzz with kind words and positive reinforcement. We think Kindergarteners also loved getting a peak into what is in store for them in the coming years!
