Math:
This week, 7th graders reviewed unit 5 and took their test on Tuesday before diving into unit 6 which introduces functions. Next week, we’ll analyze the graphs of functions and connect their tables, equations, and stories.
ELA:
7th graders began studying mise-en-scene elements this week as they viewed and analyzed their first color/sound film – The Adventures of Robin Hood. They studied the art of writing a film review and will have a review of Robin Hood or a film they view independently due next Tuesday 2/11 in the google classroom. Students also tested their grammar skills on Friday, so be sure to look out for those grades.
Next week, film buffs will head to Columbia, SC to explore the world of nonprofit cinema and film studies at The Nickelodeon Theatre and USC’s media arts school! We will also begin vocabulary study, with a test planned for 2/20.
Social Studies:
Seventh grade has really shined during this beginning unit on Antebellum America. We have talked about some subjects that they handled well and I am proud of how they have discussed them and really leaned into this unit. They were also fantastic on our field trip to Charles Towne Landing! Our next unit is to finish Antebellum America and how our country finally separated and started a war.
Science:
Seventh graders worked diligently on the Science Fair this week! We have so much going on in the science room. Cleats, plants, heart-rate monitors, water bottles, lemon-batteries…it’s so fun! The seventh graders worked on background research and started to collect data as well. We are hoping to complete all procedures by the end of next week, so we can write conclusions and work on our boards. Thank you ALL for helping with material gathering!
