Cool as a Kindergartener!

Creating Our Kindergarten House Rules
Kindergarteners started their week off by reviewing and then putting our classroom rules onto paper. Students discussed the importance of ONE voice in our classroom, taking care of our materials and each other, as well as using kind words and gentle hands. Kindergarten spent the week practicing their mastery of our classroom rules and applying them in every aspect of their day!

All About Me
Students were so excited to kick off our new Social Studies unit this week, All About Me! Kindergarteners spent the week talking about their inside qualities, outside qualities, and the things that make them special. We can’t wait to continue to learn all about each friend’s family and celebrate the differences in our classroom and world. Students are so excited for the opportunity to start their Walk In My Shoes project.

Glue & Scissors Certificate
This week, Kindergarteners were challenged to use glue and scissors appropriately in the classroom. Students started by learning all about scissor safety and the best ways to carry and use scissors in our classroom. Using these scissors, Kindergarteners cut scraps of paper to be used for a collage. With scraps and glue in hand, students had fun collaging their own names for our walls! With a few reminders, crafters became experts at using just a dot of glue. They’ve reminded us several times, “a dab will do!” After completing their glue training, Kindergarteners were proud to earn their glue certificates and permission to use glue this year!
